Contrary to myth, the ‘Hurri’ and not the legendary Spitfire was the main reason for RAF victory in the Battle of Britain (there were three times as many of them). In the interests of speed, ‘Pete’ Brothers made a number of modifications to P2921, even having the external rivets filed down to reduce the drag on the aircraft. Includes display stand and specially designed display box.

About this Aircraft
One of the 355th’s original pilots, John ‘Moon’ Elder became CO of the 357th FS in July 1944, and remained in command until VE-Day. The unit’s most successful pilot, he claimed eight aerial and thirteen strafing victories, a number of which is scored in this aircraft. Shown here, a crewman is adding Elders last victory to his scoreboard.
